Croatia’s islands are widely regarded as the gems of the Adriatic, with the island of Brac a popular destination for luxury yacht charters. There is so much to see and do here that a stopover is sure to be a highlight of your sailing trip.
Brac is a typically idyllic Croatian island with all the dramatic landscapes, pine forests and beaches you would expect. The island’s unique geology means that not only is it home to one of the country’s most well-known pebble beaches, Zlatni Rat, but also that it is where the best stone is quarried, including the spectacular white stone used to build Diocletian’s Palace in Split.
The town of Supetar is packed with old-world charm and offers visitors an authentic Croatian experience. Wander along the cobbled winding streets, visit the impressive Church of the Annunciation or simply soak up the ambience while taking a casual stroll around the harbour.
Brac’s other main town is Bol, which is situated on the opposite side of the island and is more frequently visited by tourists. The promenade is a favourite spot for people-watching, whilst the famous beach, which stretches far out into the sea, is perfect for sunbathing or water sports.
Admire the views from the Dominican monastery in Glavica or hike to the summit of Vidova Gora mountain to see some of the island’s rugged terrain. The pretty fishing village of Milna is also an interesting excursion.
Whether you are looking for tranquil escapism or an adventurous day out on one of Croatia’s best-loved islands, Brac is a delight.
