Yacht in Croatia and enjoy beautiful Bol
By Jenny Wilson published on 27 June 2016
Brac Island has much to see, with the secluded harbour of Bol somewhere not to be missed when you yacht in Croatia. This little bay may be a popular stop-off for boats but still retains a village feel that is most attractive. There are various bars and cafes to explore as you wander along the promenade and if you would like to take in the sights, there are some beauties.
Head away from the shore to enjoy some fascinating architectural treasures. This part of Croatia has been inhabited since the Roman times and there are many interesting relics of bygone eras to see. Two Renaissance citadels and the Gothic Palace in the harbour are highlights, with visitors also enjoying the climb to the Glavica peak. Not only are there great views from here but also there is a Dominican monastery featuring artwork by a local painter on the impressive ceiling.
One of the things that sets Bol apart from other destinations is its proximity to the famous Zlatni Rat beach. A walk of just a mile along a pine-sheltered promenade will take you to this Croatian gem. The long, narrow pebble beach stretches way out into the sea, providing visitors with almost perfect conditions. Some parts are shaded, while others are open to the glorious sun. The shape of the beach means that there are excellent opportunities to catch the breeze and indulge in some windsurfing.
Peaceful, relaxing and utterly charming, Bol is sure to become a favourite destination on your Croatian adventure.
